Friendswood was founded in 1895 by Quakers to establish a farming community known as Quakers of Friends along the gulf coast. It was part of the late-nineteenth-century Westwood movement.
By the 1920s, figs had become a popular crop in the area, resulting in an influx of farms. The 1930s brought displaced settlers, and oil fields on the outskirts of town created jobs.
This town has a strong volunteer tradition and a diverse population. Come to Friendswood, Texas, and use this list of the best locations in the city.
This museum is a replica of the town’s founder, Frank J. Brown’s, original home, which was built in 1895. The house retains some of its original materials, and the first floor exhibits Quaker architecture, as does the barn, which was constructed with 100-year-old wood.
The museum, located on the second floor, depicts 50 years of Friendswood history through artifacts and photographs.

Friendswood Veterans Memorial includes a waving stainless steel American flag that is 8 feet tall and 16 feet wide, as well as two 7-foot-tall granite columns on either side of the flag that feature emblems from all U.S. military branches.
A 3-foot diameter stainless steel globe sits atop one of these columns, while the other column houses a bronze eagle sculpture. There is also an arched entryway and limestone benches. The site also has an arched entry and limestone benches.
An inscription at the base of the American steel Flag explains not only the purpose of the memorial, but also the sentiments of those who will visit in the future: “Honor, Gratitude, Respect, and Remembrance to the Men and Women who served in the Armed Forces of the United States.”
